Corporate Achievements

There are many first’s in the long line of corporate achievements by the S&S GROUP. The pioneering and entrepreneurial spirit continues to this date.
  • First Halon 1301 Fire Suppression System installation – IBM Computer Suite, Colombo, 1984.
  • First Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV) installation in the very first casino to be established in Sri Lanka, Ceaser’s Palace, Colombo, 1985.
  • First and to date, the only large Perimeter Intruder Detection Systems (PIDS) installer in Sri Lanka – MAGAL DTR Taught Wire systems for the Katunayake and Biyagama FTZ’s with equipment from MAGAL, Israel.
  • First Decentralized Conventional Fire Detection/Alarm System with Floor Mimic Panels designed, engineered and manufactured in Sri Lanka – Hotel Ceylon Intercontinental, Colombo, 1987.
  • First Integrated Security, Safety & Surveillance Command & Control Centre designed, engineered and manufactured in Sri Lanka – ABN/AMRO Bank, Colombo 1988.
  • First Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel designed and manufactured with software completely written in house, prototype displayed at the Sri Lanka Institute of Engineer’s Convention as an Inventor’s Exhibit in 1989.
  • “Pioneering Industry” status awarded by the Ministry of Industries, Science and Technology and a Five Year Tax holiday granted by the Ministry of Finance in 1992 in recognition of our founder’s pioneering efforts in 1979.
  • First Video Evidence Recording Suite for the National Child Protection Authority, 2000.
  • Established Sri Lanka’s first privately operated Security Training Academy to conduct Residential Basic Security Training Course at Dummalasuriya, Madampe, 2000.
  • Establishment of an in-house Intelligence & Investigation (I&I) unit was, another first – yet to be emulated by our competitors – and a significant game changer for an organization which was primarily engineering and technology oriented.
  • Introduced Nohmi NN100 Nitrogen Clean Agent Inert Gas Fire Suppression System, following participation in the Country Consultative Committee in Halo-Carbon reduction initiative under the Kyoto Protocol.
  • Establishing the only full service Distributorship for the distribution and support of branded fire protection, security, access control and video surveillance systems and equipment.
  • Established PROTECHT Risk Management Solutions Ltd., in the UK in 2003 which then branched out to operations in Iraq, Ecuador and Sri Lanka. Today, a franchise operation Protecht Risk Management Solution (Maldives) Ltd., is established in Male, Maldives to strengthen our maritime operations.
  • Established an associate company Resilience International (Pvt) Ltd., as a dedicated military/defence and law enforcement supply business.
  • Consequently, we made a significant contribution towards the positive outcome of the counter-terror campaign and the ultimate decisive defeat of terrorism in Sri Lanka.
  • PROTECHT is the first privately contracted ISR provider in the region with Sea, Air and Land operational capability with its own Integrated Logistical System (ILS) and network throughout the Indian Ocean Region and East Africa.
